Pawn Shop reverse jaguar bass : when Fender replies to Gibson and MusicMan

Fender and Gibson have been inspired challengers and competitors since the begining (of Fender). When Fender released its Jaguar offset design in 1960, Gibson replied with the Thunderbird/Firebird to keep as modern as its competitor.

It used to be a time Fender was clearly the new kid on the block with the first solidbodied guitars and basses, the first car-inspired colors on its instruments, the first offset designs, etc.

Remembering the good old days, Fender's luthiers imagined a kind of monster, remixing the old-modern designs with the "Pawn shop series", which was kind of a joke like the odd creations of players and that you can find "as is" in pawn shops, strongly modified... The Pawn shop reverse jaguar bass was released by Fender in 2012 and combined a P-Bass neck, MusicMan style pickups, the roughness of the Cabronita, and the reversed shape of the original jaguar, making it look like a redefined Gibson Thunderbird bass with a modern passive electronic and a Fender reverse headstock.

After 50 years, Fender replies to Gibson's reply!

In 2012, Fender released an alternate version for connoisseurs through its Custom shop : The Cabronita "borracho" bass

A unique TV Jones pickup and a P-51 headstock make this bass highly rare and desirable
